So yet another Yank does not like their new president? Considering it, I wouldn't either. The fact I live in Michigan now makes all the worse. No Even the terrorists greeted Obama's election with joy.

It's not because of race, it's because the guy's a complete nutfuck. I give him 2 years tops before he fucks this country up even worse.

I think both were good and bad, like almost all candidates are.

Obama is a little to heavy on taxing in some areas for me, and I'm sure on a lot of major issues like abortion and what not.

McCain had some good things and some bad things, same with Obama.

But I would say that McCain would have been good for the U.S, and I think Obama will be as well.

I didn't hold with McCain, but we're forgetting one thing: Sarah Palin.

She's better than Joe Biden, who has been credited with making shit up AND being a complete asshole. Not to mention that we're actually doing good in Iraq right now, despite what the fancy pants media tells you. We were in Europe for 15 YEARS before we completely left to rebuild it after WW2, so pulling out of Iraq after what? 4? 5? that doesn't seem like a good idea to me.

Not to mention that I'm enlisted in the military and I wanna go and fight. Shit, if we had world peace, I'd be out of a job!

To me, it has nothing to do with race. It has to do with the quality of the person. I thought that McCain had better quality.

America was already a "shithole", but could Obama make it worse. The people at McCain's closing speech booed Obama. Despite the fact Obama won big time in electoral votes (355 to 155, I think), he won by mostly small margins (6% or less in most states), and the popular vote statistics showed the Obama/McCain national average was 53%/47%, not very big at all. In fact, "reverse" racism greatly contributed to his win. Blacks came out voting in record numbers, hoping to end "white man's supremacy." Most whites (and even some blacks) voted for McCain not because of color, but out of fear of Obama's philosophy. McCain gave the idea that Obama would plant Socialist seeds in the US, and this became most of the reason for anti-Obama movements. Without the blacks voting for Obama, he would have undoubtedly lost. The Democratic Party was very smart for nominating him as candidate.

I can practically guarantee people will be whining about Obama's win all the time very soon, just like with Bush. Despite the fact Bush won two consecutive terms, I never heard a complementary word for him in those eight years. People will get sick of him just like a kid does with a toy after too long.

Numerous factors were going for Obama, such as race, liberal youth, and "the lesser of two idiots." If Obama lost any of those, he would have lost. McCain on the other hand had many factors that he could have done without, such as the elderly, race, "the lesser of two idiots", Obamaphobes, conservative youth and the like. I can assure you that if Obama was not black, he would have lost. Racism did not make his opposition, but rather his support.

The fact is, we have to deal with this guy for at least another four years, unless some other radicals succeed in assassinating him (they tried just last week) or the courts finally rule that Obama is not eligible for the presidency (there has been much controversy whether Obama is an American citizen - which is a must for becoming president according the constitution - due to the fact he has failed to present a birth certificate proving his birth on American soil), or we wait for his term to end. Either way, we have to accept his win, and if we don't like him, out him in 2012.

Tubular stuff there Mark. Where did you hear that Obama is not born in America? I haven't heard of that myself.

Eh, can't remember, prolly the news. Fox had a lot of infomercials providing facts on Obama that were not inspiring to his cause. I can see why some people fear his presidential reign because of those. Supporting abortion with my tax money was enough to tick me off.

I would give a reason why Obama could be a good president and what I bet he'll do to get us out of the recession (though I don't think it would work)

But I'm having more fun doing something else.

So I'm going to say that Obama could possibly end up helping. Though I believe what the country needs is less taxes (particularly on business) so that more jobs and more money is thrown about to jump start the economy. Like what Ragen did... except when he did it the democrats went and spent all the damn money that we should have used to pay off our debt.

He might help the economy, I won't deny that. He just might seriously tick some people off. Bush got a lot of bad blood because of indirect offenses against the US people, and Obama just might directly offend them. There are three possibilities with Obama:

-Things will get worse
-Things will stay the same
-Things will get better

I am curious to see what happens.

I swear this forum hates me...it always logs me out automatically and then won't let me log in with what I was sure was my password, haha...

I personally really didn't like either candidate. I think McCain is the worst Republican presidential nominee in the history of the country, and I think Obama was the worst major-party candidate to ever run for PotUS. I couldn't stomach voting for either of them--I took Alan Keyes, if any of you have heard of him. Very Happy I do hope, however, that I'm wrong about Obama and that he will actually do some good for this country.

I heard about the possibility that he wasn't born in this country. The birth certificate he had released was determined to be falsified. There's every possibility he was born exactly where he says he was. But, then, why doesn't he release his birth certificate? It seems ridiculous to me that this was not checked out before he was allowed to run for president. I honestly don't wish him to be assassinated, but Biden would be infinitely more preferable than Obama, so I have to hope something comes out of the birth certificate thing...even though I highly doubt it. Laughing

I heard Alan Keyes talk before, and I liked what I heard. I wonder why he wasn't a candidate.

Ye too with the birth certificate scuffle? I guess this rumor is more than a rumor.

I know all about Alan Keyes, he is probably the best man for the job. He is a great debater, and in 2000 I heard him blow away McCain, Bush and a lot of Republican candidates. I was quite frustrated that he was again denied a nomination. He would have won if he did run - he was black too, but he was far more qualified than Obama or McCain! I am totally with you there, Lancer.

Yes, I agree he should have been checked before he was even nominated. If the courts rule that he is ineligible now, I fear revolts and mobs. It would not bid well for anyone.

I don't think it will be quite that bad, Richard, haha. And I really doubt anything will come out of the birth certificate thing, even if it IS a legitimate rumor.

Alan Keyes will never get any traction because the media never gives him any coverage, except when they think they can use that coverage to make him seem insane and extreme. People won't vote for him because they don't think he can win, which is a catch-22...I vowed to vote my conscience, and my conscience said not to condone either of those candidates. Very Happy Keyes really is an excellent debater and a wonderful speaker, and he says what he believes (he and Ron Paul are two of the few politicians that do so).

It seems you have a very level head in politics, Lancer. Very few people still vote that way. I commend you for such a virtuous display.
